Government Drone Bombs a Birthday Party, Killing at Least Eight Children

On Sep. 20, around 7 p.m, Port-au-Prince’s poor neighborhood of Simon Pélé was transformed into a theater of barbarity.

Stevenson Albert, alias Jouma, a well-known leader of the neighborhood and its armed group, was celebrating his birthday (which is also that of Haitian founding father Jean-Jacques Dessalines). It wasn’t a battlefield. It wasn’t a military operation. It was a neighborhood party, with children present, receiving gifts.

And it was precisely at that moment that the Haitian state, as embodied by the illegitimate unconstitutional, de facto government of Alix Didier Fils-Aimé, chose to unleash its kamikaze drones. Not on a military target. Not on a “gang” base. On children.

These drones, supplied, funded, and endorsed by the U.S. government of President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the name of “security,” exploded in the middle of a party. They massacred children whose only weapons were a balloon or a doll.

The videos are unbearable. The blood, the screams, the tiny bodies scattered — this is the true face of the regime that Washington supports.

And the macabre irony:

The targeted leader of the neighborhood’s armed group did not die. Not one armed group commander has been killed by these drones so far, since the government began using them to strike poor neighborhoods in March. No evidence shows that these illegal air-strikes have neutralized a single real “gang” target.

So who is being killed? Who pays the price?

Always the same: the poor, the children, the innocent.

But this is not a “mistake.” It’s a strategy. A strategy of terror, which deliberately chooses to turn working-class neighborhoods into war zones, to reduce the flesh of children to dust to send a message of submission.

This is state terrorism, with the blessing of, or even by, the United States. Make no mistake: this de facto government has neither autonomy nor legitimacy. It is merely Washington’s puppet.

Every drone, every bullet, every massacre operation is funded by American money, justified by American rhetoric, endorsed by American silence.

The U.S. dares to speak of democracy and human rights while supporting a regime that drops bombs on children and has yet to neutralize a single real armed group leader.

Here is the naked truth:

The neighborhood armed groups thrive and are even growing. The terrorist state murders the innocent. And Washington covers it all up under the pretext of “stability.”

But what the U.S. calls “stability” is, in reality, a field of Haitian children’s corpses.

As of this writing, here are the names of 11 of the dead:

The death toll as far as we know at this point is 15, eight of them children. Many more were badly wounded.

To get more details, we contacted Jimmy “Barbecue” Cherizier, the leader of the Viv Ansanm (Live Together) Political Party, for Jouma’s phone number, but he said “Jouma is in shock right now and not answering the phone.”

A woman who lives in Simon Pélé told journalist Ralph Laurent that Haitian police officers stopped the wounded being transporting to hospitals, causing some of those injured to die. “Worse yet, the woman told me that the police even executed some of those who were helping to transport the wounded,” Laurent told Haïti Liberté.

Meanwhile, analyst Jake Johnston of the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) in Washington, D.C. tweeted out on Sep. 23 the following observation:

“Today is day 3 since a botched police operation resulted in the deaths of at least 8 children in Haiti, and the de facto authorities have yet to make any comment or even acknowledge the tragedy.

“Instead, a large government delegation is in New York appealing for more foreign troops.

“The transitional government was supposed to restore trust in the state. It’s doing the exact opposite.

“They need those foreign troops because it is their best chance to stay in power.”

Were the Haitian police flying the drones, or was it the Vectus International mercenaries of Erik Prince who were hired (as has been widely reported) by Fils-Aimé? Either way, both the police and the mercenaries are working on behalf of the de facto Haitian government, which is working, in turn, on behalf of Washington.

The world must see. The world must understand. The images are horrific, unbearable. But they say it all: Haiti is living today under a regime of terrorism sponsored by foreign powers, where the flesh of children serves as currency for domination.
